The Tip-Top epithermal gold prospect is located north of Joe Ross Creek, approximately 10 kilometres southwest of the western end of Bonaparte Lake.

The oldest rocks in the area are andesitic and basaltic volcanic rocks of the Upper Triassic Nicola Group, which are intruded by granitic rocks (quartz diorite and granodiorite) of the Triassic to Jurassic Thuya Batholith. The Mesozoic rocks are overlain by subaerial volcanic rocks (dacites, trachytes, basalts, andesites, rhyolites and related breccias) of the Eocene Skull Hill Formation (Geological Survey of Canada Memoir 363). The Eocene volcanic rocks are capped by plateau basalts of the Miocene Chasm Formation (Chilcotin Group).

The Tip showing is characterized by epithermal-style brecciation, clay, sericite and K-feldspar alteration in a zone approximately 200 metres long and 50 metres wide (Assessment Report 18960, page 11). The brecciation and alteration affects both granitic rocks and a small rhyolite plug. Minor fine pyrite mineralization is associated with the quartz.

In 1988, a chip sample (Rub-88-109) taken across a 1.5- by 4.5-metre outcrop yielded 0.20 gram per tonne gold (Property File - R.U. Bruaset [1989-01-09]: Year end report 1988 - Geological, Geochemical Surveys - Tip 1-5 Record Nos. 2077-80, 3643).

In 1989, a 1.2-metre chip sample assayed 0.385 gram per tonne gold (Assessment Report 18960).

In 1990, a chip sample, over approximately 1.5 by 3 metres, of a pebble dike yielded up to 0.197 gram per tonne gold (Property File - C.J. Clayton [1990-12-13]: Tip Top Property Examination - with maps).

The Tip and Top claims were staked in 1986 to cover epithermal-style mineralization uncovered during preparation of a logging road. The claims were subsequently optioned by Northgate Exploration Limited and, in 1988 and 1989, subjected to programs of geological mapping; soil, rock and biogeochemical sampling and machine trenching (Assessment Reports 18247, 18960).

In 2005 and 2006, Amarc Resources completed programs of prospecting, geochemical (stream sediment, soil and till) sampling and an induced polarization survey on the area immediately west as the Tulox property. This work identified at least three anomalous zones of gold values located in the Joe Ross Creek, Lastcourse Lake and Scot Creek areas to the west and north west. Two rock float samples (RH-R-152 and HC-R-510) yielded 30.4 and 1.1 grams per tonne gold, respectively (Raven, W. (2008-01-08): Summary Report on the Tulox Property).

In 2007 and 2008, 0789982 BC Ltd. and Sitec Ventures Corp. examined the Tulox property. In 2012, Newlox Gold Ventures Corp. examined the Tulox property.
